Ferrari's first four-wheel-drive car, the FF, is anything but truck-like. In fact, it's shockingly quick and powerful. It's also uniquely styled, as one of the few two-door shooting brakes on the market. The shooting brake form factor is a bit like a stubby wagon, and while that might not sound like a good basis for beautiful design, with the Ferrari FF, it works. Both models of the 458 share a low, aggressive front end with futuristic-looking headlights, a tall, flared rear end that gives the car a muscular stance, and clean, mid-engined proportions that distill the essence of a modern Ferrari performance car. The 458 Italia's interior is modern and luxurious in its look, but not avant garde or striking. The California's exterior design is the oldest of the current Ferrari range, and in it, you can see the genesis of the more dramatic details found on other models. Some cues are missing, however, like the up-swept, narrow headlights, and wide front air dam found on the rest of the company's offerings. Still, its roadster proportions and flowing, diving lines give the impression of a modern performance car at first glance. Inside, the California's look is more in line with the rest of the range, with a balance of leather, metal, and plastic outlining familiar shapes.
