After a one-year hiatus, the Audi TT returns for 2010. Fully redesigned, the new model features evolutionary styling, a more sophisticated chassis and a new four-cylinder engine. It's also wider and longer, but extensive use of aluminum has reduced curb weight compared to the previous-generation TT. It's hard to imagine that the basic shape of an overturned bathtub with some flashy aluminum bits on the inside could have such an impact on automotive design. But that is indeed the case with the Audi TT. One of the most original-looking vehicles to come out in the past 10 years, the TT has rightfully earned its place as a German icon.

The TT is once again offered as a two-seat roadster or 2+2 coupe. Each is available with front-wheel drive or quattro all-wheel drive. Both body styles are 5.4 inches longer and 3.1 inches wider than the previous TT, which was last offered in 2006. The wheelbase has grown as well, up 1.8 inches to 97.2, but the weight is down more than 150 pounds, thanks to the extensive use of aluminum. V6 and turbocharged four-cylinder engines return, but the four-cylinder is a 2.0-liter instead of a 1.8. The 2010 model is dynamically superior to it predecessor and its edgier looks are already making the last model seem old.
